RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
This is the process whereby adults inquire and learn about the Catholic faith.
At the culmination of this process, those who discern the desire to become Catholic are welcomed into the Church through the Sacraments of Initiation at the parish Easter Vigil Mass. This same RCIA process is adapted and followed with children and teens who are of catechetical age (7 and older).
BAPTISM
Parents of infants and children younger than age 7, who wish to have their child baptized, participate in a preparation program to assist them in understanding their role in raising their child in the Catholic faith, and in understanding the liturgy of Baptism. Families must be registered parishioners who are actively practicing their faith.
FIRST PENANCE, FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION
Preparation is provided through Assumption Parish. The age for First Penance and First Communion is second grade or older. Confirmation preparation occurs for young people in grade seven and older. Adults who have not yet been confirmed may also be prepared to celebrate Confirmation.
