The music ministry of Assumption has a twofold purpose:
The choir of the Church of the Assumption is a group of parishioners who serve our parish in a very special and exciting way. They have a talent for singing and are trained to minister to our liturgies and worship through the art of music. All volunteers, they make a yearly commitment to the music ministry of Assumption by coming to rehearsals and to the 9:00am Mass, September through May. Additionally, there are times when they extend their talents beyond Wednesdays and Sundays to enhance the worship of God at special para-liturgical events and concerts. Many members of the choir have served in that ministry for over 35 years, as the adult choir as we know it began in 1964. There is always a need for new members, both men and women. The ability to read music is not a pre-requisite. Very few choir members could read music when they began as new members and now they are proud to identify themselves as singers and members of the choir of the Church of the Assumption.
