The Pastoral Council, formerly called Parish Council, is the primary advisory committee with whom the pastor and the administrative staff consult on matters of parish policy. The council is composed of nine members elected by the parish. The pastor, school principal, director of religious education, and the business manager are considered ex-officio members of the council.

The purpose of the Council is to explore and study with the pastor, matters of a "pastoral nature", that is those areas of life that touch the spiritual and faith development of the parish members. It is also to serve as a consultative body to the pastor by making evaluations and recommendations, and to provide an effective vehicle for planning and communication within the parish.

While Council makes sure planning moves forward, it neither assumes an expertise that is more appropriate to another parish group, nor involves itself in the administration of the parish.

Pastoral Council meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the rectory meeting room. All regularly scheduled meetings are open to the parish. Anyone wishing to bring an issue to Council for its consideration may do so by notifying the Administrative Secretary, Angela Warren, of the topic to be discussed at least one week in advance of the meeting and by requesting to be placed on the meeting agenda.

This revision of the guidelines also included a revision of the process of selecting Council members. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the rectory or any current council member.

Have Questions or Suggestions

In January, we started a new feature in our bulletin and our web page aimed at giving you the opportunity to ask some of those questions you have always wanted to ask but perhaps did not know whom to ask, or that you may prefer to ask anonymously. Maybe it is a question about something at Mass or about one of the sacraments. Or, perhaps you have a question about some aspect of our parish life at Assumption.

There are Q&A (Question & Answer) forms available at the Hill Street exit of the church. Simply drop your question in box already used for Suggestions. Or, if you are surfing the web, you can submit your question online at www.AssumptionMtHealthy.org - simply click on the What’s New at Assumption box and look for the
.

Of course, the Hill Street Suggestion Box also may be used to submit comments and suggestions to improve parish life at Assumption.

We encourage your Questions and Suggestions.
